Faethon Skyrace

Faethon Skyrace is a demanding mountain-running race held on mythical Mount Olympus, in the Kokkinopilos area. The 24-kilometer route, with +1,800 meters of elevation gain, offers a unique experience across trails, alpine terrain, and peaks above 2,000 meters. The race starts from the village’s central square and has a 6-hour time limit, with intermediate aid stations. It is intended for experienced athletes in good physical condition with experience in mountain races.

The race is limited to 300 participants. A medical certificate is not required, but participants must sign a declaration of responsibility. There is a 6-hour finish time limit, with an intermediate aid station at Diaselo Kardara, at 14 km (2,340 m elevation). Free bus transport from Thessaloniki is provided for athletes. The event includes races of 23 km, 14 km, and 1 km for children, with registration by bank transfer, and participation in a race of high difficulty and natural beauty. The start and finish are in a historic area with a rich natural and cultural heritage.
