Race description
The Lafonissios Race is a historic running event held in the area of the Monastery of Panagia Chryssoskali in Chania, Crete. Dedicated to the memory of those massacred in 1824 on the island of Lafonisi, it includes a challenging half marathon of 21.1 km, a popular race of 7.8 km, and a children's race of 1.1 km. The routes start from historic sites and end at the courtyard of the Holy Monastery, offering a unique experience combining sports, history, and culture. The organization is carried out in collaboration with local clubs and agencies, inviting runners of all ages to participate in this celebration of memory and sports.

Volunteers receive special clothing, refreshments from aid stations, and free transportation by the event's bus. All races finish at the courtyard of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Chryssoskali. The event includes three routes: half marathon 21.1 km, popular race 7.8 km, children's race 1.1 km. Participation is only possible online, with free transportation for participants and a limited number of spots. The race takes place on public roads and has a historical and cultural character.
