7ος Βυζαντινός Αγώνας

The Byzantine 50 Kilometer Running Race is an ultramarathon held in Megara, combining a fully asphalt route through pistachio groves, olive groves, vineyards, and wooded areas, with a section of approximately 5 kilometers along the enchanting Alepohori - Dourako beach. The race honors the history of Byzantus, founder of Constantinople, and has a charitable character, collecting food for the Social Food Bank of Megara Municipality. The event is organized by the Municipality of Megara and collaborating bodies, aiming to promote the running movement and provide an introduction to ultramarathon races.

The registration desk opens at 07:00 and closes at 08:30 on race day. The race duration is 7 hours and 30 minutes. There are refueling stations every 5 km and medical support. Timing is done with an electronic RFID chip (DagTimingSystem). The race is non-competitive and does not count as an official qualifying event for other races. There is a charitable activity collecting food for the Social Food Bank of Megara Municipality. The race takes place on January 24, 2027, with RFID electronic timing, and includes a finish line in the city of Megara. It is non-competitive, and participation is open to runners who have completed at least one marathon in the last three years.
