The 78th Sacred City of Messolonghi Memorial Run is a historic race held as part of the celebratory events of the anniversary of the historic Exit. The race honors the Messolonghi residents who sacrificed themselves for the ideals of freedom and is the oldest running race in the country. The route starts from the Holy Monastery of Saint Symeon, where the Free Besieged sought refuge, and ends in the city's Heroes' Garden, covering a total of 9,800 meters. It is a route with special historical and symbolic significance, offering participants a unique athletic and cultural experience.

The race takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The route begins at the Holy Monastery of Saint Symeon and ends in the city's Heroes' Garden. The race honors the historic sacrifice of the Messolonghi residents and the Philhellenes during the Exit of Messolonghi. The organization includes three participation categories: over 2,500 entries, ages up to 17 years, participation via QR code, and it is conducted along a walking route around Messolonghi.
