Race description
The 5th Istipetis Sacrifice Run is a mountain race of 14 kilometers with 600 meters of positive elevation gain, held at the Istipetis Fortress near Nea Petritsi, Serres. The race is organized by the Friends of Istipetis Fortress Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Sintiki, as part of the 85th anniversary of the fortress battle. The purpose of the event is to preserve historical memory through sports and to highlight the natural wealth of the area. The route includes passages over the surface of the fortifications of the Metaxas Line, where defenders faced the German war machinery in 1941.
