The International Marathon "Alexander the Great" covers the route from Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia and birthplace of Alexander the Great, to Thessaloniki, the modern Greek metropolis. It is a race that combines sports with history and culture, offering a unique experience through a course filled with Greece and ancient Greek culture. The marathon is an important international sporting event with parallel activities and races for all ages and categories.

There are 1,000m running races for elementary school students, 5km and 10km races, as well as a national marathon championship for persons with disabilities. Parallel events, informational seminars, and cultural activities are available. Group registration for teams of 10 or more is supported. Technical instructions and participation certificates are provided. The event includes 5km, 10km, and marathon races, along with parallel activities and exhibitions.
