14ος Αγώνας Ορεινού Τρεξίματος «Σαμαριά»

The 14th Samaria Mountain Race is a demanding 21.6-kilometer race that crosses the impressive Samaria Gorge, one of the most well-known and visited natural landscapes in Europe. The route starts from the Omalos Plateau and moves through trails and rural roads, offering unique panoramic views and contact with the area's rare flora and fauna. Simultaneously, the 4th Omalos Run 7-kilometer race is organized, ideal for those seeking a shorter route. The race is organized by the Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Chania and provides an excellent opportunity for runners to enjoy the nature and history of Crete.

The route includes 8 refreshment stations with a variety of foods. The race starts and finishes at Xyloskalo (altitude 1,250 meters). There is also a shorter 7 km route (Omalos Run). The route crosses the gorge with narrow sections such as the "Sideropora" which is 3 meters wide and up to 700 meters high. Tips for accommodation, transportation, and equipment are provided. The organization includes services and checks, and participation requires online registration. The Samaria area and Omalos offer a unique mountain experience.
